Difference between SRAM and DRAM
In this tutorial, we are going to study about the difference between SRAM and DRAM.
RAM or random-access memory is used to store the programs and data that are modifiable. Ram chips are available in two forms:
-
SRAM or static RAM
-
DRAM or dynamic RAM
Given below is the major difference between SRAM and DRAM:
SRAM
DRAM
SRAM has lower access time
DRAM has higher access time
Due to lower access time, SRAM is faster
Due to higher access time, DRAM is slower
SRAM requires constant power supply thus it consumes more power
DRAM consumes less power as it stores information in the capacitor.
SRAM has lower low packaging density
DRAM has higher packaging density
SRAM is costlier than DRAM
DRAM is cheaper than SRAM
