OR Gate


OR operator may take two or more inputs and one output. It produces 1 if any of the input values is 1.

Important points on OR operation

  • OR Operator performs logical addition operation of boolean algebra.
  • The symbol used for OR operation is +
  • For example, A+B implies A OR B operation

OR operation rules 

0+0 = 0

0+1 = 1

1+0 = 1

1+1 = 1

 

Thus we see output will be 1 when any one of the input is 1.

 

0 represents false

1 represents true

Truth Table of OR Gate

Truth table shown below is for two inputs.

It will have 2^n rows, where n is number of inputs.

Number of rows in truth table: 2^2 = 4
